Together for a Better World: Stories of Solidarity and Unity
At ASSUBUD, we joined the Amadora CPCJ campaign to raise awareness about the importance of preventing abuse against children and young people — a cause that is central to our mission. π
Throughout the month, we carried out several initiatives with the participation of children from the Creche and Escolinha, who enthusiastically created a Human Blue Ribbon, a symbol of the fight against child abuse. Families, educators, schools, and local businesses came together for this cause, demonstrating that protecting children is everyone’s responsibility. π€
We also participated in the exhibition at Alegro Alfragide, with a Blue Ribbon created by our association, displayed alongside works from other schools in the region – a gesture that reinforces the idea that prevention begins with love, education, and collective action. π€²
Each Blue Ribbon is more than just a symbol; it is a commitment to a safer and happier future for all children. β€οΈ

Planting Solidarity, Harvesting Joy
It was with great joy that we welcomed another Team Volunteering Action, this time with the fantastic group from CIEE Lisbon, in a collaboration made possible by our partner, Serve the City. π€β¨
These were moments of genuine sharing and cooperation: thanks to the generous help of the volunteers, our “mud kitchen” was brought back to life, the existing vegetable garden was revitalized with more eco-friendly practices, and the Creche’s outdoor space became more welcoming, and well-maintained πΈπΏ - all so our children can play and grow in a greener, safer, and more inspiring environment π
A very special thank you to the CIEE Lisbon volunteers for their energy and dedication, and to Serve the City for making this collaboration possible and for continuing to build bridges of solidarity. π
It’s through actions like this that we feel we’re not walking alone. Thank you for being part of our journey! πΌ

Between Paths and Connections
In April, the ASSUBUD team gathered for a unique day in a peaceful setting in Bucelas, surrounded by nature π³. A meeting that allowed us to break from routine and truly be present with those who walk alongside us every day. π€
Upon arrival, enthusiasm was visible, and the atmosphere quickly filled with good vibes π. After the first few moments of conversation, we set off on a walk that took us to a breathtaking waterfall. Along the way, group dynamics emerged that allowed us to reflect, listen, and share π. There were moments of relaxation, exchange of ideas, and lots of laughter.
Between the beauty of the surroundings and the strength of the connections we reinforced, this day became an invitation to presence, listening, and unity. We ended with a relaxed snack and shared many stories, all while enjoying the tranquility of the place. π
It was more than just a meeting — it was a moment of connection, sharing, and collective growth. It is one of those days that will remain forever, not only in our memories but in our hearts.
Colorful Hands Celebrating Family
May was Family Month, and our Escolinha and Creche were filled with joy, laughter, and meaningful moments shared between children, families, and our entire educational team π€. These were truly memorable days, where bonds were strengthened through sensory, creative, artistic, and, above all, fun experiences!
At the Escolinha, the highlight of our Family Day celebration was the creation of a collective mural. In this symbolic and meaningful activity, each family left their unique and special mark.
At the center of the mural, a large tree was painted on the wall π³ – a symbol of growth, strength, and connection. Around it, each family was invited to paint their hands with colorful paint π¨ and leave the imprint of their palms on the wall, creating unique and vibrant leaves full of life.
It was a moment filled with great enthusiasm and emotion, where mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, and other relatives joined the children to get their hands dirty literally! Between laughter, colorful fingers, and heartfelt sharing, a very special tree came to life – a tree made of affection, memories, and community.
At the Creche, we prepared an equally memorable afternoon, organized into various themed areas where families could play, explore, and create alongside the children:
πΏ In the Natural Kitchen area, pots and pans weren’t for cooking – they were for playing! With water, leaves, mud, sand, and grass, children and their families immersed themselves in the world of pretend play, cooking with nature, and letting their imaginations run wild.
π¨ In the Sustainable Painting area, using reusable materials collected throughout the year with the collaboration of families, everyone experienced the magic of turning waste into art. This activity combined creativity and environmental awareness.
𧽠In the Mud Kitchen area, families rolled up their sleeves (often getting them muddy up to the elbows!) and played freely in the mud, enjoying pure fun, freedom, and connection.
π± At the end of this special afternoon, each family took home a small bean sprout, symbolizing growth, care, and the continuous relationship between families and the Creche. π€ A small seed with a significant meaning π±.
We thank all the families who joined us on these special days. Each gathering was a seed planted of affection, collaboration, and presence. We believe it’s in this fertile ground between home and school that a full and joyful childhood grows, built on meaningful moments and lasting bonds. πΌ

A Meeting of Unity and Sharing
From April 28 to May 4, the Subud Portugal Association had the honor of hosting the Zone 3 Meeting of the WSA (World Subud Association), which welcomed 42 participants from various European countries, along with the current World Chair, Rifka Several.
Throughout these days, participants shared the challenges they have overcome, the achievements they have reached, and the new paths yet to be explored. Each story brought valuable opportunities for inspiration and encouragement. With gratitude, we celebrated the progress made by each country, recognizing that every individual accomplishment is, in reality, a collective victory. β¨
These were days marked by unity, deep listening, and inspiration — moments that further strengthened the bonds within our global community. π
In May, our little ones from the Creche experienced an unforgettable adventure: a visit to the Granja Educational Farm! πΎπ It was a day filled with discoveries, smiles, and plenty of contact with nature and animals.
As soon as they arrived at the farm, their wide eyes and eager little hands revealed just how curious and excited they were. ππ€²
During the visit, the children had the opportunity to bottle-feed baby sheep π — a sweet and heartwarming moment. They also saw ducks, chickens, ponies, donkeys, and rabbits π°, giving plenty of cuddles and gentle pats to all the animals.
The children also got to take part in bread-making π — they rolled up their sleeves, got their hands in the dough, and were fascinated by the whole process. Later, they went for a ride in a wagon π΄ and had a delicious outdoor picnic surrounded by nature. π³π½οΈ
After so much excitement and fun, it was time to rest. Naptime took place in the cool shade of an orchard π, in a peaceful and welcoming setting.
At the end of the nap, the children received the bread they had helped make — a tasty and meaningful reward that made the day even more special.
These visits are truly valuable for children’s development: they stimulate curiosity, encourage connection with nature πΏ, and strengthen bonds with both peers and the adults who accompany them. The experience was as enriching as it was fun and, without a doubt, a memorable day for all! π»
